Yesterday I had the pleasure of teaching a sewing class to seniors at the community center. I had so much fun. Since I started my transportation/logistics company I haven’t had any time to sew or teach classes at all. So it felt really good to get back in the groove of something that I love to do but just don’t have the time to anymore.
We had a group of 4 vibrant seniors and my sister assisted me with helping the ladies get set up with their sewing machines and supplies to get started. For this particular class we made a pillow that was 20×20. The supplies we used were polyester stuffing and about a half yard of fabric. I precut the fabric for them and then allowed them to sew the pillow down on each side leaving a small opening for the stuffing. The ladies really had a great time sewing the pillows and they are looking forward to sewing more projects.
I plan to start teaching the classes at least once or twice a month at the Roberts Parks Community Center in downtown Raleigh, NC.
Teaching the class today made me realize how much I miss sewing. It has always been so therapeutic for me. I think that I will find some time out of my busy schedule to start back sewing for myself!
Here are the ladies listed below with the pillows that they made!
