I recently started back juicing and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made towards living a healthier lifestyle. Homemade juice is just so refreshing and delicious!!!When I went through my breast cancer journey in 2019, I started juicing frequently because I knew how beneficial it would be for me. With taking chemotherapy and radiation I wanted to make sure that my body was still receiving all of the proper nutrients that it needed, in addition to assisting with repairing my internal cells, after the damage from the medical combo.
Juicing has so many great benefits that people are not aware of. It helps boost your immune system, aids digestion, assist with weight loss, remove toxins from your body, reduce inflammation, and improves your energy level to name a few. I normally incorporate 32 oz’s of juice daily into my diet. I drink 16oz for breakfast and then maybe one for lunch or dinner. I’ve noticed that when I consume juices throughout the day, I don’t get really hungry for food, so it definitely decreases your appetite.
My first juicer was a centrifugal juicer which does not extract as much juice from produce, the juice oxidizes quicker, and it doesn’t stay fresh as long. With a masticating juicer, also known as a slow/cold press juicer, you get less foam and oxidation. The juices stay fresh for up to 3 days before it begins to lose some of it’s most vital nutrients (but it is still consumable). The masticating juicer extracts up to 90% of the nutrients from the produce that is juiced.
I recently purchased a Ventray 809 cold press masticating juicer from Amazon, and I am very satisfied. I’ve had quite a few juicers over the last year, but this is one of my favorites. The price was $229.99. It makes enough for 32 oz per container, and it also comes with a pulp strainer, cleaning brush, and an additional 32 oz container for pulp waste.
For anyone that is looking to transition into a healthy lifestyle I would definitely recommend incorporating juicing into your daily routine.
